Gary, your book is wonderful. Had I not met you it still would have resonated with me the way it did. It is written with wit, poignancy, bitter-sweet humor, and a lot of wisdon. Your memoir tells your story the way it was meant to be told. Your life unfolded the way it did in order to prepare you for the message you have formulated into your being, through the time you invested studying A Course in Miracles, the Eckhart Tolle books, and the artistic sensibilities you have developed and attuned to your spiritual being, and the way it all came together in your book. You have a beautiful message that needs to be told for all people, but especially those with the "institutionalized" mentality and the resulting outcomes of their lives.
Can you imagine your book in every correctional library around the world? Not to mention the family members that send it to their loved ones in the pokey that are paying their debt to society.

My first response on the book from someone in custody:
"I got a book and a letter in the mail and looking at the title of the book I figured the Chaplain's trying to get in at me or something so I put it on my desk and start reading my letter. About halfway through I look at the book again and read some of the back cover. I tell ya, I tripped out a bit. I read it right away and to tell the truth it made me wonder if the reason I keep coming back to places like this is cause I'm "institutionalized," and maybeI need to stop thinking like I'm used to and find a Higher Power. I already got my G.E.D. since I've been down and that's a start. You know, I think I'm done living like this. I just want to be happy. I'm tired of always looking over my shoulder. I'm ready to grow up. Well, I just wanted to thank you for the book. It was really good. I read it in one day."
