Gary Ryan, author of Blessings in Disguise: A Tale of Redemption
I moved from the Midwest to California in the late ,60s and, after bouncing around for awhile, I started college classes while working at the Camarillo State Mental Hospital. There were 7,000 patients in that hospital; men, women, and children. I worked in an acute psychotic intervention unit for adolescents until economics forced me to seek my fortune elsewhere. I eventually set up a successful concrete company and take on concrete projects between writing and art-making endeavors.
